Justice Court or District Court?

Justice Court generally handles small claims, Class B/C misdemeanors, traffic infractions, and local ordinance violations — it's designed to be navigable without a lawyer. District Court generally handles general civil cases, felonies, Class A misdemeanors, family law, probate, and appeals from Justice Court.

Utah has 8 judicial districts, and most cities and counties run their own justice court with its own address, phone number, and filing process.
