Utah injury deadline checker

Choose the type of claim and enter the date to see the main Utah deadlines, with the law each one comes from. Deadlines can be much shorter than people expect — especially for claims against a government entity.

Why these deadlines differ

Utah has no single injury deadline. Many negligence claims fall under a four-year catch-all, but wrongful death, malpractice, product and alcohol-related claims have two-year periods, and claims against a city, county, school district or state agency require a written notice within one year. Time spent negotiating with an insurer does not pause any of them. For the full picture see Utah Personal Injury Statute of Limitations, and for what comes after the deadline, How Long Does a Utah Personal Injury Claim Take?
